Creating An Entire Brand For NASA’s Exploration And Space Communications (ESC) Division11/19/2009, Silvia Stoyanova - President and Creative Director
Maryland based company ARTS hired Amika Studio to design, produce and deliver an extensive package of marketing and visual products for their contract with The Exploration And Space Communications Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
The Exploration and Space Communications (ESC) Projects Division at Goddard Space Flight Center plays a critical role in nearly every mission NASA launches. ESC is responsible for the management, development and implementation of flight projects, operations flight systems, communication and navigation systems, as well as space and ground network operations within the NASA Exploration Systems Mission Directorate, Science Missions Directorate and the Space Operations Mission Directorate.
Amika Studio’s experience with government contracting companies played a crucial role in ARTS’s decision as to who will provide creative services for their contract with NASA.
This project requires a full package of products including:
Creative Consulting – We are working closely with ARTS and NASA to advise them on best approaches to their creative needs.
Creating The Exploration And Space Communications Division’s Identity – We developed a logo by which other agencies, the public, scientists and engineers will recognize the division.
Web Site Design & Development – We are creating an informational web site for the division that will be administered by an easy to use admin back end developed by Amika Studio. See logo here
Obtaining and Writing Content – We are assigned with interviewing NASA scientists and engineers and writing content for all marketing and visual products that we’ll be delivering. For this task, we are using the best technical writers and editors on board since the content is highly technical and specific to NASA.
Video Production – We have engaged our best producer, who has produced content for NASA, PBS, NOAA, Northrop Grumman, and more, to produce 2 videos for ESC. This includes writing scripts, working closely with the client to select on camera talent, shooting interviews, collecting archive footage, shooting b-roll footage, and editing.
Print Design and Production – We are working to cover 2 floors of hallways with visually compelling artwork to best represent ESC and all the NASA missions that ESC provides services to. We are involved with delivering the story and design concepts for the exhibits as well as working with a third party vendor until the displays are installed on the walls.
In terms of print production for ESC, we are also developing concepts, stories and designs for a traveling pop up exhibit, folders, brochures, and fact sheets.
When this project is completed, the Exploration And Space Communication Division at NASA will have a fully developed brand line. Using these materials, they will be able to approach NASA missions and market their services.
