Inspired by astronauts who described a borderless world as seen from orbit, Gaia Project will share this experience with audiences around the world through live performance, set against stunning large-format projections of Earth from Space. Treating the word 'Gaia' as a poetic expression of global interconnectedness, Gaia Project can incorporate the beauty of Earth as seen from Space in a range of public programming, educational outreach and online media projects.
Friday's one-hour presentation at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt will include a brief live performance by Kenji Williams (violin and sequencer) and visuals produced by Dr. Carter Emmart (director of Astrovisualization at the American Museum of Natural History's Hayden Planetarium.) Earth imagery provided by SCISS AB's Uniview software, which generates fully navigable, model of the Earth, layered with photorealistic visualizations of atmospheric data supplied by NASA.
The performance will be followed by an introduction to the Gaia Project by producers Kenji Williams and Alex Bowles, and a Q&A to identify potential avenues for collaboration with NASA and the Goddard Space-flight Center.
